What is phishing? 

phishing is a type of online identity theft that uses email to steal personal information such as username and password.

How can we prevent ourselves from falling victim of this attack?

Below are five (5) tips we can use to overcome phishing.

1. Protect your personal information which includes your username, password and credit identity.
2. Beware of suspicious emails, Do not click on unknown links and ignore emails you don’t know the sender.
3. Know the phishing language such as ‘Verify your account ‘, ‘Your account will be deactivated’…Watch out for emails with threats.
4. Enhance the security of your computer Make sure you have a good antivirus installed Make sure your computer has an up to date Operating system and web browsers.
5. Browse securely with HTTPS indicated by a ‘lock icon’ in the browser address bar Never use unsecured public Wifi to enter personal information online.
